Why Washing Machine Not Filling Up With Water

When your washing machine doesn’t fill up with water like it’s supposed to, it can be quite alarming. This can happen for a wide number of different reasons, but regardless of the reasons chances are you want to know about it so you can fix it or have a washer repair done to get it fixed. Here at Alpha Appliance Services Inc., we want to help you better understand this issue in hopes that you can find the solution and get your washer back to its optimal functionality.

Water Supply Issues

One of the first things you should always look for when finding an issue with your dryer’s water is checking the water supply and making sure it’s turned on. The switch must be flicked into the “on” position for water to properly distribute into your washer drum. If the switch is turned on, also make sure to check that the hose that supplies the water isn’t knotted or kinked. If the hose is misshapen or knotted in this manner, the water will not be able to flow properly.

Water Level Switch Issues

Washing machines have switches that control the water level of your washer. Sometimes, faulty switches can cause your washer to not fill with water properly. These switches will need to be checked, and it is highly advised that for this issue you hire an appliance repair professional as it requires more experience and skill to maneuver/fix. In this instance the washer will actually need to be taken apart, so doing this kind of fix on your own is not recommended.

Water Inlet Valve Issues

If you’re unsure about what the inlet valve is, it is the valve that connects the hoses to your machine. These hoses, of course, being the ones that carry the water. This valve is also in charge of ensuring that the machine fills up and drains water properly, and controls both the hot and cold water that goes inside of it. If there is a problem with this part of your washer, you can bet that your machine will not fill with water properly or at all. To get it fixed, you will need the help of an appliance professional.

Filter Issues

When there is a problem with your washing machines filters, this is usually an easy issue to fix. In most cases, this issue will not require an appliance specialist’s help. Simply take a look at them and check to make sure they are not clogged up. If they are, clean them thoroughly and place them back into the machine compartment. If you are unsure where to find your washers filters, simply check your machine’s manual and it should give you a good idea of where they are and how to remove/replace a filter.
