When you have a dryer at home, it becomes an easy and effective solution to dry wet clothes and linens. Having a dryer also eliminates the need to air dry clothing on a clothesline and wait endlessly for them to be dry. Although having a dryer sounds perfect, Alpha Appliance Services Inc., your Aurora appliance repair team, knows that occasionally dryer problems can arise. That’s why we are here to highlight three of the most common problems and explain a few techniques on how they can be solved.
Problem 1: The Dryer Makes Unusual Noises
There are many reasons as to why your dryer might be making unusual noises. High pitched noises or squeaking sounds are not good and they should be looked at immediately. When a dryer makes these types of noises, it could indicate that a piece inside the dryer has become broken.
For example, there is a belt that wraps around the drum of the dryer, and if it loosens, it can lead to strange noises. Most times, you can simply open the cabinet and replacing the old belt with a new one. Another area that could cause noises is if the glides on the drum supports wear out and create friction on the inner wall. This can create loud noises and should be looked at ASAP to avoid any further damage.
Problem 2: The Dryer Fails to Start
The first step when your dryer fails to start is not to panic. Our team knows this problem can be a frustrating one and it is probably the most common one, but we have a few solutions that might help!
We would first recommend that you check on the control setting on the dryer and ensure everything is in the proper place. If this didn’t solve the problem, you can then check your electricity connection. If a circuit breaker slips, it will result in your dryer not starting. If this is the problem, simply reset your circuit breaker. If you are not sure what you are doing, it can be best to call in an appliance repair team to take a look.
Problem 3: The Dryer Will Not Heat
Heat is an important part of a dryer in order for the unit to function properly. The first thing to do if you notice no heat in the dryer is to check on the thermostat that is located behind the dryer. This will indicate a number and if it is at zero, you should remove and replace any defective coils.
Impaired airflow inside of the dryer might also be a reason for no heat. To fix this, you might have a clogged filter that you will have to clean or you might have to replace the gas burner. These are a few solutions that should fix the problems you are experiencing.
