Do you know what condenser coils do for your fridge? They allow your fridge to remain cold as they provide an outlet for heat to escape. Unfortunately, due to the placement of condenser coils, they oftentimes get covered with dirt and dust which prevent them from doing their job. Alpha Appliance Services is here to remind you that when you clean them, you allow your fridge to work at its fullest capacity. If you are having problems with your fridge, hiring a Refrigerator Repair in Whitby service can help you solve the problem.
Where to Locate the Condenser Coils
Sometimes, the condenser coils can be located at the back, top, or bottom of the fridge. This all depends on the model and make of the fridge you have. To help you clean the coils in each of these locations, we have put some tips together below.
Cleaning the Condenser Coils at the Back of the Fridge
- First, unplug the fridge and if you have an area rug, remove it
- Then, slowly and carefully push the fridge away from the cabinets and wall
- Next, use a refrigerator coil brush (working from the top to the bottom) to clean the coils located on the rear of the fridge
- Then, clean the dirt, dust, and hair that have fallen behind your fridge (Use this time to deep clean back there as well!)
- Finally, you can move your fridge back into place and plug it back in
Cleaning the Condenser Coils at the Top of the Fridge
- First, unplug the fridge
- Then, remove the grill panel located at the top of the fridge. We recommend wearing gloves as condenser fins can have sharp edges (You can find the condenser located at the rear of the machine compartment)
- Next, use a refrigerator coil brush and gently twist back and forth to remove the dirt and dust located in tight corners
- Then, feel free to use the vacuum to pick up any debris that has fallen on the ground
- Finally, you can plug your fridge back in
Cleaning the Condenser Coils at the Bottom of the Fridge
- First, unplug the fridge and if you have an area rug, remove it
- Then, gently remove the base grill that is covering the coils
- Next, use a refrigerator coil brush to remove any loose dust, dirt, or animal hair. Perform a detailed clean so that the condenser coil can breathe better
- Then, clean the base of the grill (if necessary) and clean up the dirt
- Place the base grill back on
- And, plug the fridge back in!
