Common Appliance Faults When Cooking

When you are cooking with your stovetop or oven and notice that the elements aren’t turning on, they are getting too hot or too cold, or they just aren’t functioning in a way you’re used to, chances are something within the device is faulty. With so many potential issues, you want to be sure you’re aware of as many of them as possible. Here at Alpha Appliance Services Inc., we want to troubleshoot some of these issues so you can find the problem, have it fixed by an oven repair service or otherwise and go about cooking like normal.

Oven Issues

The Lights Are On, But Nobody’s Home

Sometimes the power can seem as though it is on, but when it comes down to it will not actually function properly. This can often occur due to the PCB timers being in need of a reset.

Oven Not Heating Up

There are two reasons why this issue takes place. It can be caused by an issue with the motor, or an issue with the element itself. If you notice that the fan does not spin, it’s a motor issue. Even with that in mind, a fan not spinning can also be due to a faulty thermostat or timer.

Tripping Electrics

If your oven happens to be tripping your electrics, this is often caused by an element malfunction within the device. These kinds of malfunctions will require a professional repair service to ensure everything is done with quality and safety.

Electric Stove Top Problems

Faulty Heater

A broken stove stop can happen due to a number of different reasons, but a faulty heater is one of the most common. This will require one of two things; a repair or a replacement altogether.

Broken Set of Rings

If a set of rings happens to stop working on your stovetop, this will most likely mean there is an electrical issue going on. This can be things such as a burnt out cable or an issue with the selector switch. Regardless, you will need the help of an appliance professional/engineer to get this fixed.

Gas Stove Top Issues

Stove Top Not Sparking

If you have ensured that your gas is fully connected but you’re still coming across this issue, there could be a couple reasons this problem is taking place. One of the potential reasons could be a broken spark generator/a damaged electrode. Both of these could cause a spark to not light, and will require help from a professional to fix.

Stove Top Sparking Too Much

Unfortunately, this can be an issue as well, and one that is much more dangerous to the build of your stove. This could happen due to moisture around the igniters, a misalignment of the burner cap or just a messy stove. When you notice this issue be sure to call a repair professional as soon as possible to get extra help.
