Dishwasher Not Cleaning Dishes Properly

So, you’ve come home after a long day of work and notice that there’s a big pile of dishes lying in the sink. Talk about a bummer!

This can be annoying, but you realize that you can just put them into your dishwasher and go on with the rest of your day. What if, however, your dishwasher runs a cycle and the dishes still don’t come out clean? What now?

Here at Alpha Appliance Services Inc., we are well aware of this type of dishwasher issue and want to do everything in our power to help prevent it. While a dishwasher repair will fix up any old issue with your appliance, sometimes it’s good to know everything there is to know in case you can implement some solutions of your own. If you’d like to learn about why your dishwasher is not cleaning your dishes effectively, check out the information we have offered below.

The Inside Is Dirty

One of the main reasons why your dishes will not clean is due to the fact that the machine itself is dirty. When a dishwasher is dirty on the inside, that dirt gets flung around and can land on dishes and stick to them. In other cases, the dirt from your dishwasher simply blocks the effectiveness of a good dishwasher altogether. The good news is that this issue comes with quite a simple fix.

In order to ensure that your dishwasher’s interior stays clean, simply run a cycle with white vinegar. This safe cleaning agent works to get rid of any dirt and grime while leaving a lovely smell behind.

Low Water Temperature

The truth is, if the water spraying inside your dishwasher isn’t hot enough, the dishes won’t end up getting clean. In order for dishes to be properly cleaned of germs in this appliance, water temperatures need to be anywhere in between 120-150 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature will not just work to get rid of any germs and sanitize the dishes, but also get rid of any food and grime.

Dishes That Are *Too* Dirty

While dishwashers are meant to clean dirty dishes, dishes that are too dirty can mess up how this machine works. Before putting any dishes into the dishwasher, especially if they are generally quite dirty with sauce, crumbs or otherwise, be sure to give it a good rinse under the sink before putting it into the machine. Sometimes all it takes is one rogue noodle or piece of chicken to mess up the functionality of an entire cycle.
